Keyboard shortcut for ipad

Are you one of those people who is always in a rush?

iOS on iPad allows you to create keyboard shortcuts with abbreviations that can help you take notes or create messages faster. All you need to do, is to define on your settings the words or phrases you use most often and let iPad do the replacement for you while you type.

Applicable to:
iPad versions: iPad, iPad 2, the New iPad, iPad mini, iPad with Retina Display
iOS versions: iOS 5, iOS 6 and up

Creating a new keyboard shortcut

Tap on Settings

Tap on Keyboard

Tap on Add New Shortcut…

Enter a phrase and a shortcut. For example Phrase: “Be right back”, Shortcut: “brb”

Tap on Save to define the shortcut.

Using the keyboard shortcut

Click the Home button and tap on Notes to open it.

Tap on the plus button to create a new note. Type the shortcut “brb” and tap space. iPad will recognize the shortcut and transform it into the defined phrase.

You can use these keyboard shortcuts on other iPad Apps such as Mail, Safari, etc.
