Birthdays, holidays, Mother’s or Father’s day, a token of appreciation, a thank-you… These are all valid reasons to buy an App or a music album and send it as a gift to family, friends or colleagues.
Think about it. How long does it take you to drive to a store, select a gift (or gift card), make the purchase, and drive back home?
From your iPad (and in a matter of a few minutes) you can select the desired gift, personalize it and send it directly to the inbox of your friend, relative, or co-worker. Sounds cool?! Want to know how to do this? Keep reading below :)

The first step is to browse the App Store and find the right gift.
Locate App on App Store
Tap on the App Store icon to open it
and search for the App you want to send as a gift. In this example I’m searching for iPhoto by tapping on the search box on the top right of the screen.
Once you locate it, tap on the App to see its details.
Prepare Gift
Tap on the action menu on the top right
and tap on gift.
A “Send Gift” form appears. Here you can complete the information of the recipient’s email address as well as a personal message (optional).
The gift can be sent right away or can be scheduled to be sent in the future (up to 90 days in advance).
When you are done completing the information, tap on Next.
Note:
It seems that gifts are only valid in the Store from which they were sent, so if the person that sent the gift is in the US then only another person in the US can redeem the gift.
Select a Theme
You can choose a theme for your gift. Slide right or left until you find the one that you like.
When you are done, tap on Next.
Review and Confirm
Review the purchase information to confirm everything is ok and tap on “Buy Gift” if you are ready to buy.
At any time during the process you can tap on the bottom legend to read the iTunes Gift Terms and Conditions.
Note 2: The person receiving the gift will get an email notification that will allow him to redeem the gift.
